Re: Windows 10 Creators Update* & Intel® HD Graphics Drivers

Well. It looks like either Microsoft or Intel changed something in code, driver support or compatibility. There was no improvement prior to last Creators Fall Update (build 1709). Newly released Intel drivers (version 15.33.45.4653) gave no results as well.

Next thing I tried and it works for me now:

I walked through all driver versions downwards, reinstalling and testing them at least three days to validate the functionality. I found out, that the version 10.18.10.3282 for Windows 8.1 x64 (driver date 26.08.2013) works well and without any problems already one week. I tested different software (SolidWorks, Altair Hyperworks, FEKO) and different scenarios, e.g. waking up from the sleep mode, hibernation, hyper-v on/off, shared second monitor over mini display port and other stuff — the driver works perfectly.

The automatic driver update was blocked in gpedit during all driver tests and installs to avoid its automatic change:

  1. Open Group Policy Editor gpegit;
  2. Go to \Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update;
  3. Change "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" option to enabled.
  4. Delete you actual driver in devmgmt.msc completely, including driver files;
  5. Restart OS;
  6. Install Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver version 10.18.10.3282 for Windows 8.1 x64 (driver date 26.08.2013).

There is no way to get this driver from official Intel Download Center, so try to Google it by yourself.

Once again, this works for my ThinkPad x230 (2325CN9) with Windows 10 x64 (1709) and Intel HD 4000 graphic card.

Could anyone else please confirm that this driver is working or have any issues?

Black screen while installing Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers

Hello!

I was using my computer normally and then it suddenly crashed, when I tried to reboot it I got a black screen right after the "acer" logo during boot. So, I tried uninstalling my graphics drivers in safe mode and reinstalling them. problem: each time I try to install the Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers, my screen goes black again before the installation even finish.

I have an Acer Aspire V5-591G-74MI with a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 950M (which I think works fine if installed alone) and an Intel HD Graphics 530, running on Windows 10 64 bits.

For the drivers, I tried using the customized drivers from the acer website as well as the generic intel drivers. I also tried installing the intel drivers before and after the NVIDIA ones.

I've been struggling with this problem for the past day and I am using the Microsoft Basic Display Driver in the meantime. Do any of you have a solution?

Thanks a lot.

Re: Intel wants to hear your feedback! - Graphics Control Panel

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

Please add back the ability to use custom resolutions to the control panel for ALL hardware versions, or fix the driver's inability to correctly read from the display.

I have several systems which use Intel HD graphics, and they all have issues choosing or allowing the correct resolutions for different displays.  On the very same system, attached to a STANDARD COMPUTER DISPLAY, the driver lists the display as a "Digital Television", despite it being an Asus computer monitor.  It offers a long list of resolutions, including 1360 x 768 (which is NOT the native resolution of the display).  If I move the very same system to a Samsung LCD TV, the driver recognizes it as a Samsung Digital Television, and only offers two resolutions - 1280 x 720 and 1920 x 180, neither of which are the correct native resolution, which is 1360 x 768.  Why is this resolution offered on a computer monitor, when it's NOT it's native resolution, but not on a TV when it IS it's native resolution?

There used to be a Custom Resolution app, which still exists, along with a CustomResolutionAppv2_0, in System32, but both of these are totally non-functional.

This has been an issue for AT LEAST FIVE YEARS, with NO solution, despite it being all over Intel's very own forums.

Come on guys, get your act together.  At this point, I'm about to swear off ever buying another system that relies on Intel's graphics.

Intel HD Graphics driver keeps on reverting back to previous version

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 7447 and its integrated GPU is Intel HD Graphics 4600. When I download the latest driver online and install it, it works. However, a few hours later, after booting up my system, I see that the driver has downgraded to the previous version. This has happened more than twice now, and I did the fixes to disable driver updates in Windows 10.

Monitor goes Black

Television as monitor

Problems

When I switch the television input from computer to satellite and back....

1) windows on screen are (sometimes) relocated. Very irritating, but I can live with this. (Seems to be related to windows that are partially off screen are relocated to be fully on screen.)

2) no input detected at all, monitor remains black but keyboard & mouse functional (I can make it "bing"!). Only "fix" is to unplug my computer.

Hi.

I have a LG Ultrawide 25' monitor, which is being detected by the Intel HD Graphics as a Digital Television (I'm connect it via HDMI). As it's detecting it wrongly as a Digital Television, I'm not able to change saturation options in the color configuration tab.

I was linked in this thread, as the NVIDIA solution uses a EDID override for forcing it to be detected as a monitor, but I have no idea in how to do it in Intel HD Graphics.

Anyone can help me on that?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:

Intel HD Graphics Driver doesn't support EDID overrides (overscan problems)

This thread describes exactly my problem (wrong detection as a Digital Television).

With so many competing updates from Microsoft and Intel, it would be great for Intel to issue a fixed driver update that would solve this issue. I don't feel comfortable rolling back to earlier drivers, (plus, there is so much conflicting information about which drivers work better) because I'm afraid of unintended consequences. I can't put my computer to sleep anymore because of this problem.

Re: eye strain

I seem to be in the same position now: Since changing jobs, I got a new HP laptop (old elitebook 820, with win7) I've tested Surface Pro 2017, Surface Laptop, Lenovo Carbon X1 WQHD 5th generation, Lenovo Yoga 910 4k, but all of these produce severe eyestrain and bloodshot eyes.  Common factor is that all of these have an Intel display adapter. I think there must be something that Intel has made to the drivers. It is not depending on the Windows version since I've tested with 7-10.  My old Lenovo T420 with circa 2014 drivers and Win7 was not causing ANY eye strain. Neither is my home PC with a HP display and NVidia GeForce.

Is anyone from Intel anymore monitoring this discussion?  All of these devices are PWM free at all brightness levels or then 100% brightness. I'm quite sure that it must be something that Intel has done at the driver level, as otherwise this does not make any sense. Previously the source of irritation has always been PWM. If no PWM, no eye strain. Now several laptops without PWM are causing severe eye strain.

I'm not able to go back to the old device, so I need to find a laptop that I can use without getting bloodshot eyes.

G4600 performance of HD 630 w/o AVX/AVX2

I need a kaby lake processor for decoding 4k video in Netflix and YouTube. While both the Pentium G4600 and the i3 have the HD 630, the Pentium lacks AVX/AVX2. I've been reading that both codecs rely heavily on AVX2. I'd like to know if the Pentium is significantly crippled by the lack of AVX2 when it comes to decoding 4k video, when compared to the i3. Will Netflix 4k streaming be supported  no the Pentium? What other performance implications come from a lack of AVX2 support (as it pertains to an HTPC running Windows 10).

Thanks.

N3700

Note also, it hasn't & doesn't always do this.

Problem #1 (the relocation bit) started with new system (and windows 10) and I can mostly avoid it by ensuring all my windows are onscreen.

Problem #2 (black out) didn't happen initially, but started a while ago (2 years?) magically went away, and just recently started again. I haven't made any changes to my system....at least, I haven't. Auto updates can't be avoided.

Hi,

I am getting error "The setup program failed to install one or more device drivers, Setup will exit" when trying to install the Intel graphics driver v15.33.45.4653 on a Windows 10 machine.

But I was able to install the old driver v15.33.43.4425 on the same system.

Processor: Intel Atom CPU E3826

RAM: 4GB

OS: Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB 64-bit

HW ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F31&SUBSYS_72708086&REV_11

           PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F31&CC_030000

           PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F31&CC_0300

Please let me know why I am not able to install the latest driver on the system where I can install the old version?

What is the latest version of graphics driver for this hardware?

Appreciate your help!

Hi there,

Yesterday i upgraded Windows to the Fall Creator's update, and suddenly the whole system started to behave as it should, very fast UI refresh in 4K.

I am crossing my fingers but it seems the lag has disappeared or is vastly reduced.

Thanks for taking this issue seriously. I'm at the moment testing so that I connect my Surface Laptop to HP monitor that has not ever produced any eye strain. Thus far, after a couple of hours, I cannot yet say for sure. So there is also the possibility still, that it is in fact the panel in the laptops that is producing the eye strain. What makes me doubt this though, is the fact that 3 years ago I was able to use a HP laptop without problems with Windows 8 and 2014 drivers.  In a way it would be a relief if it was not the display adapter or the drivers, as then there would still be hope in finding a laptop that has a panel that does not irritate. Also, then at least the laptop could be used with an external display.

Hello Jojolabricot,

Thanks for the information you sent to me.

Since issue happens even with an external display the issue might be hardware related.  There is a chance the graphics controller might be defective.

At this point the best option would be contacting MSI* so they can check if the issue is hardware related.  If it is hardware related then they should be able to replace the faulty part.

This link will give you their contact information https://www.msi.com/about/contact-us/
