The issue was confirmed and is still under investigation.
Re: Corruption in XBMC
Re: Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered
@Ertymo: Thanks for all the info so far, I will take a look at the game myself and see what I find.
@PickMeh: I would suggest trying out your OEM drivers. Here's a link to your systems support page; Product Support for XPS 17 (L702x) | Dell US
Install the latest Intel® Graphics Driver, and possibly the latest drivers for your other add-on card. Let me know if there's any difference afterwards.
@Michael: Thanks for the info. According to the DxDiag, your system does not recognize the Intel® Graphics driver. You should contact your OEM and verify whether you have a switchable-graphics supported system or not. You can also try uninstalling the drivers for your add-on card, and see if the game functions properly just using the onboard graphics.
@patrick_kirby1: Try this driver; Download Center
@Red1: Try this driver; Download Center
@mrpie: Try this driver; Download Center
@lalatintel: Try this driver; Download Center
@erinrehm: What is the full make/model number of your system? Do you just have the on-board graphics, or is there an add-on card as well?
@Bryan Lee: It looks like you have the wrong driver installed. It's displaying your graphics controller as "HD Graphics Family" when it should be "HD Graphics 3000". Here's a link to our latest driver, give it a try and let me know how it goes. Download Center
Thanks everyone,
-Nic

Re: Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered
Thanks for the help Nic, sadly it seems to be a hardware problem. Did a fresh W7 install and problem was still there, had a talk with Dell's support center and they're going to replace my gfx card
Keep up the good work Nic, seen you help a lot of members

Re: Windows don't boot after HD Graphics Driver installation
I have the same problem, or similar. I have an ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE Motherboard and a i7 3770K processor. I have been using my PC with an Nvidia video card, but if I remove it, when I turn on the PC it starts rebooting indefinitely, Windows 7 does not seem to even start loading (because I don't see the logo and if I press F8 to get the boot options I get nothing).
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the video drivers, at first I was getting an error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements", then I managed to install it. But the problem persists.. when the NVidia card is installed I can boot and once in windows both cards work. But if I remove the discrete card or If I configure the BIOS to boot with the integrated card then I cannot boot.
Thanks.

Re: Windows* 7 Driver (32-bit) - Version 1091 - Intel® GMA 3600
powerarmour wrote:
Yeah, VC-1 decoding isn't too great with the GMA 3600/3650, it's not using CPU acceleration as the load is still fairly low (<20%), but the driver or just simply the GPU struggles with high bitrate VC-1 so it often plays them slowly.
H.264 and MPEG2 in general are accelerated fine under Windows 7 however, but I agree that this 1091 driver isn't as stable as the 1065 driver in regards to video playback (better in many other areas, but I've noticed more video playback glitches)
I tried playing the WinSAT videos in WMP 12, and I didn't see any corruption like the screenshot on page 3 shows in the VC-1 video. However, the H.264 video played even more slowly than the VC-1; both were slow, but the H.264 was really slow. It completely bogged down my computer during the 5 seconds of video (which took a lot longer than 5 seconds to play), but the CPU usage never got higher than 11%. Weird...
I tried some new games out, and it's mostly more garbage from the driver.
DLC Quest: The framerate is nice, around 53 consistently, but once you buy the HD DLC pack in Live Freemium or Die (it gives the picture a sepia tone), the framerate drops to 21. And there are no refunds in the game, so I can't just go back and unbuy it.
Duke Nukem Manhattan Project: In D3D8 mode, all shadows and blood decals are constantly flickering. In OpenGL mode, there are no bugs and the framerate is much better, but FRAPS can't record any video.
Spider-Man (2001): Never in my life have I played a game as slow as this. Framerates are absolutely awful 80% of the time (1-2 fps), which is pathetic, since the game runs on hardware less than 7% as powerful as the GMA 3600 (think original Voodoo Graphics). Shame, Intel, shame.
Cube 2 Sauerbraten: Just slow in general. I think the CPU's being overloaded by the execution of both graphics and conventional CPU commands.
Is there any progress being made at all on the driver? It's been almost 2 months since the last driver release, and we've heard virtually nothing. Granted, it took 4 months to move from 1089 to 1091, and the jump fixed just about nothing as well.
Re: Official Black-screen thread - We need your help!
Brian, One quick question. What memory are you using? Something I found out during my continued troubleshooting my my system is that the video drivers fail when I had a stick of Kingston DDR3 memory in the system. With it in there, the system ran fine doing anything I wanted until I loaded the video driver. Then Poof! I pulled that stick and ran with the stick from the factory and it was fine. Tried with just this stick and the driver fails to load, and Windows crashes. I'm running Memtest on it now to see if there is a problem with the stick. it was brand new fresh out of the package.
FYI: The memory was Kingston KTA-MB1333/4G. I'm also going to go compare the specs and make sure I didn't miss something when I picked it.
Re: Intel HD Graphics driver wont load - lack of resources
What is exactly the graphics controller model?
See here to identify this product:
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-009482.htm
Also, I need to know the operating system version.
Re: Official Black-screen thread - We need your help!
Hi Texas1st - I'm using 2x 4GB Crucial 16000MHz DDR3 RAM sticks. It's not that though as I ran Memtest86 multiple passes and it passed just fine. I don't get any crashes at all - just a "dead" monitor that can't see what Intel's driver is outputting (but only when Intel's drivers are installed - the Windows 7 standard VESA driver is fine).
I do only have a single link DVI cable though which is why that sprang to mind, ie Intel's drivers might be sending half of the output over each "link" on the output (normal for 2,560x1600 @ 60Hz or 1920x1080 @ 120Hz that require such bandwidth, but not for 1920x1080 @60Hz which fits easily over a single link). The Windows 7 "VESA" driver might be sending all 60Hz over a single link (as do discrete cards) but the Intel driver may be sending half the signal over one link and half over another. If that's the case, with a dual-link cable & compatible monitor, it'll work, but with a single link, half the signal ends up missing. It's all I can think of that explains why one cable works but another non faulty cable doesn't. Likewise with monitors that work perfectly well with discrete cards.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI#Dual-link_DVI
Unfortunately, I sent the motherboard back and can't test that thesis, but maybe someone with both a single & dual-link DVI cable can swap them and test it? Thanks.

No. No they haven't.

Re: Intel HD Graphics driver wont load - lack of resources
I apologise for not supplying sufficient information but it was extremely difficult working at such a low resolution, refresh rate and colour depth.
It's a fairly new build with an i7-3770K hence HD4000 and Asus P8Z77-V Premium using the Displayport connector with displayport v1.2 to VGA adapter and a CRT monitor. Using Windows 7 x64.
My concern was whether displayport was capable of using a 85Hz refresh rate at my normal working resolution (1280x1024).
I did have a GT240 installed when I first tried the displayport adapter but I have since removed it hoping that it would get things working.......It has, the drivers are now managing to get the needed resources and I do have a display. 1280x1024@85Hz which is what I wanted
However, I do need the GT240 installed and I am hoping that it will be able to provide decoding assistance for DGDecodeNV for AVISynth hardware assisted decoding which is programmed by Donald Graft (DG).
If there was an Intel graphics alternative then I would not need the nVidia card at all. ATM I have tried using LAV decoder and ffdshow to decode 1080p video using graphedit/directshowsource and indexing the raw H.264 video using MKVMergeGUI with indexes for every frame in an attempt to get a similar effect to DGDecodeNV which provides excellent frame accurate decoding.
Not all that effective unfortunately because the beginning is full of blocks which means extra work adding extra video at the beginning so that the decoding can get the necessary video for the section that I need.
It's far from perfect and I don't think many people who are into video encoding would do it. What is needed is an application like DGDecodeNV and then Intel HD video might make some inroads into the core video encoding groups.
Speed wise, it does seem faster than the video decoding engine on my GT240 but it was limited a lot by being single threaded when I tried it which didn't help the speed. It should be capable of much faster, I hope. The power usage is low, which I like. However things like video resizing are proving to be a problem. That is well supported, as is de-interlacing on DGDecodeNV.
Still early days as I only got things working yesterday and had a mess around with the Intel H.264 decoding.
Now I need to get my GT240 re-installed and working alongside the Intel graphics. I just hope that it will work okay with AVISynth in that configuration.
Incidentally, Donald Graft has mentioned that he had considered writing an application for Intel graphics hardware however ATM he doesn't have a recent enough Intel system with Quicksync. He has provided a great deal to the video encoding community over the years and his tools are regularly used in most freeware encoding applications.
It might be worth mentioning this to your superiors as it could be an opportunity to get Intel graphics hardware into the grass roots encoding community. It's either that or wait until DG's next system upgrade.
Re: Official Black-screen thread - We need your help!
Brian, Memtest has now been running on this system/memory for over 5 1/2 hours, with multiple passes and no errors. I don't think it's a memory problem so much as it is a problem with the way the chip is addressing the memory. since this is a laptop, the connection is straight from the motherboard to the LCD. I'm not sure if it's using DVI protocols for the data, or if it is using the old VGA protocols. I haven't tried an external monitor on it yet when it boots with the driver. Maybe it is splitting the signal like you are suggesting, not getting a complete signal and shutting down. As long as the Intel drivers are not loaded, this machine will do anything you want it to. I'm thinking about some kind of stress test to run on it for a couple of days without the drivers. I'm pretty sure the problem is not a component issue, but a design issue. I'm also going to try different brands of memory (happen to have some Samsung DDR3 laying around that came out of Sony laptops when we bought them.
Re: Arma 3 red screen
Hi nic727,
I will forward this information to the appropriate department so they can take a look at it. I cannot guarantee a future release of a graphics driver will be able to fix this issue you are having.
I recommend you also contact the company that developed the game in order to make sure the computer meets the minimum requirements to run that game.
Re: Can anybody get me a display driver?
Hi aliasgermhow,
What happens is that the graphics controller that is in that computer supports up to Windows XP.
I recommend reinstalling that operating system so you can have all of the graphics features available. This is the link to the Windows XP driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=12536&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20XP%20%20Professional*&DownloadType=Drivers

Re: Intel 3000 HD Graphic driver is giving a hard time!
Hi, allan_intel,
It's with the lastest driver I've had the flickering and crashing situation.
I've looked to update the chipset driver as well, no matches found.
Thanks,
Javier.-

It's never been right since release day, let alone 2 months!
In fact, has any PowerVR based driver from GMA 500/600/3600/3650 series actually been any good?, that's the main issue we have at the moment, simply not enough care or enough being done about it.
